Rod, at 14:10 on May 25 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley... BL> I am sorry you feel so insecure. BG> So would you, if your neighbour had been murdered by someone BG> who's still at large, and if you had complete fuckwits BG> driving around firing high-powered rifles half the night. RS> That sort of thing has been going on for a long time. Sure, but 11 years ago, not around here. Things have changed since then. BG> Logan is the juvenile crime capital of Australia. RS> Depends on what you call crime tho. Its not true of say murder. Criminal offences perpetrated by juveniles. It's well documented. RS> Some of the coon settlements have fucking unbelievable murder rates, RS> actually worse than the worst of the Washington DC drug ghettos. Yeah, no argument with that at all. BL> Actually, I wouldn't find Logan that insecure. BG> Oh really? Try walking your dog around here then. Go on. :) RS> Probably safer than say Redfern. In Eveleigh Street, sure (unless you have a black lab). :) BL> I grew up in Newtown. BG> The violence of 40 years ago is nothing like the violence of today. RS> Thats not true actually, the murder rate has been STATIC for RS> well over fifty years, in fact if anything its dropped a little. I know that, and I'm not actually talking about murder at all (the fellow who killed his entire family just up the road, that was a one-off). Within the last 6 months at our small local shopping centre, Lyn has been physically attacked by a couple of coons (armed with fucking broomsticks of all things) and has also returned to her car to find somebody attempting to break into it. And the local NAB has been robbed (armed, of course) twice this year, whilst the local servo owner has been held up and robbed SIX fucking times in the last 12 months. Always juveniles too. Fucking little scumbags. :( Just saw a news report about some local coppers having their back window shot out while patrolling around here yesterday (broad daylight too). How about swapping houses for 12 months, then we'll see what you have to say. :) RS> And a bit before that, even before the senile old fart of Concords time, RS> if thats actually possible, Sydney was quite a bit worse than it is now. RS> Razor gangs and all. You want to read Chow Hayes memoirs, a small time RS> thug of that era. He actually shot a fellow dead on the dance floor would RS> you believe, and got off on the charge too, on self defense grounds. Sure, and half the coppers of the time were no better, but this is supposed to have become a civilised society since those lawless days, but I've seen no evidence to support that at all. Not here at least. BL> We had a murder, several rapes, a suicide (very messy, he cut BL> his throat) burglaries galore and wife-bashings every day of BL> the week, not to mention drunk and disorderly as a way of life. RS> Yeah, that stuffs been going on for a very long time. You dont RS> see anything like the level of the old blood pubs either now. Next time you're up this way, visit the Waterford Hotel, where two people have been beaten to death during pub brawls in the last 6 months. As with the murdered woman 2 doors down the road, one of the perps is also still at large. BG> Welcome to Logan. You'll be right at home here, I promise you. RS> Sure, but you said he would feel insecure there. He is RS> saying he wouldnt. There are plenty of people who dont, RS> even in the areas where the corpses keep piling up. We'll see. I sure feel relatively secure now, but if the fuckwit pollies end up disarming me, that feeling will change REAL quick. BG> As far as I'm concerned, it is my basic human right BG> to be able to protect myself and my family from BG> predators, and if I need a gun for that, so be it. RS> Yeah, I think we should have the system seen in some US states where RS> no burglar has any rights at all inside your house, whether thats RS> breaking a leg tripping over something or ending up with bullet holes. Couldn't agree more. If theyre uninvited, they should have NO rights. And that includes fucking Mormons and JWs too, IMO. BTW, I saw a copper actually booking a couple of Mormons for not wearing helmets whilst riding their bikes a few months ago. Made my day, it did. :) RS> I dont see why say a woman alone in the house at night should have to RS> try to get the burglar to bugger off in some other way, far too much RS> risk of getting it wrong and ending up severely injured or dead. If RS> the burglars dont like the risk, they are welcome to not burgle. Precisely. As several of my copper mates have already said, shoot first, then put a kitchen knife in their hand before calling for help. They also suggested that it would help to make sure that he was dead first. Charming. :) RS> Its been interesting to watch your QLD polly clowns go to water on that RS> self defense stuff after Port Arfur. I'm not surprised to see complete RS> fuckwits like Goss go to water, even after saying the exact opposite in RS> the last election, but you would think that UberLeutnant Cooper might RS> have had more balls. Specially with Liz Cunningham having the balls. Herrs Cooper and Borbidge have their own little problems right now (CJC, the Police Union, etc., as I'm sure you heard). Might even end up with another trip to the polls over this, and boy, won't the next election campaign be interesting! RS> Borbidge clearly is just a total fuckwit, RS> no policy, dog shit between the ears. You may well laugh, Rod. You don't have to put up with the fuckwit. :( Regards, Bill @EOT: --- MsgedSQ/2 3.30* Origin: Logan City, SEQ +61 7 3200 8606 MO (3:640/305.9) SEEN-BY: 640/305 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
