It happened to us in an earlier home, in 1943. The noise was considerable,

the uproar ceased very soon.
One night in Scotland beside Loch Long we watched a chimney fire on the other
sided of the water. A beautiful, scary sight with refelections in the water.
Could see and hear the fire truck arrive from some distance. Memorable!

No chimneys in our present house- natural gas, and heat pump. No doubt your
