PD> Faults don't worry me. It's the dupe ring itself. As I have said

AS> True, up to a point. I cut the feed between here and Trev when
AS> I began receiving a full (uncontrolled) feed from the US because
AS> of the dupe loop it would have caused.

"Uncontrolled?" Struth. Problem is, now a msg from net 640 will
have to go via zone 1 and then zone 2 before coming back. Would have been
better to cut it at zone 1 (if possible), or at least drop the zone 1
system from the export-to list and let em go bad. The "OzLink"
backbone link was getting the echo around. Without it, there are problems
because of the ad-hocery of Amiga systems' links.

AS> The major problem the Amiga has is its own supporters, not the
 AS> IBM sysops.

Hmmm, for the less-than-popular echoes, yes. (We could never get some
support echoes "backboned"). But TRAPDOOR has been on the zone 3
"backbone" for at least 6 years, and it was very convenient
having it distributed that way.

AS> As an example; Amiganet in Qld has been
AS> disconnected for almost 2 months because an NC is offline
AS> "temporarily", with support like that it's no wonder systems
 AS> begin closing.

Yes, I won't argue with that!

AS> That said, I'm actually in here looking for an AmigaNet feed. :)

Only one place to go, Chris Quonoey, 3:633/359. He links directly with
Robert Hofmann in Zone 2, and feeds most if not all AMiganet hubs. He will
want $7 a month for the feed, however, plus $7 a month from anyone you feed
the echoes to.

PD> Nah, strictly speaking it IS correct. I'm still importing it.
PD> It's just only going to 711/439 and net 622 from below here. Alwyn
PD> Smiths gate for it must be getting on to Net 640. That leaves
PD> anyone else without a feed for TRAPDOOR at all :-(

AS> It's unlikely to leave Net 640 while there is a chance I will
AS> cop flak over dupe loops. All my downlinks know that should
AS> they, or one of their downlinks, cause a dupe loop I will sever
AS> the link from here immediately, without notice.

The only other possible gate is my system here. I don't want to cut the
gate because I want the TRAPDOOR echo, but if it was reliably available I'd
cut my gate instantly because I simply can't afford it, whereas your link
in zone 1 would supply you with a number of other echoes, I imagine? :-)
If you do link it to Trev's, send me a netmail and I will cut the link here
on receipt.

  Mea Culpa,
 Peter Deane
