I have yet to see ANYONE claim that the Pledge of Allegiance existed back
then!  That does not affect the point at all: it was accurate to say that
the founders were perfectly comfortable with the phrase "under God," used
it, and understood its roots in British history and law, as I elaborated on
in my post to Alan Hess.
