You're a little behind the times, Chris. The Windows NT/Win32 version
of Lightwave isn't officially released yet (and as usual the release
date has been pushed back again) but it makes for a powerful incentive
for Lightwave users to get even a Pentium (much faster than an A4000 040
for rendering), and those Dec Alphas really fly. Your post above is
based on last summer's information and products, which is ages ago in
computers-ville.
