 * What Is AdventureNet?

AdventureNet is an alternative network for use with FidoNet compatible
software. We pass messages back and forth both in netmail and in echomail
conferences. In AdventureNet, each node is welcomed and assisted in many
ways by other AdventureNet members. We have active echomail areas and a
growing file echo selection. Our echomail traffic is growing every day, and
are now pulling more mail ever than before. AdventureNet has a very friendly
atmosphere than can be found in many other networks.

AdventureNet has been in existence for over four years, and in that time,
has grown significantly. Originally the network was formed for the sole
purpose of giving an outlet to gamers. The network hosted many online and
active echomail role-playing games (RPGs). It has just recently changed to
become a more diverse network now catering to the general public. We still
pursue gaming related topics of wide diversity. Now however, our echomail
conferences have grown to general areas of interest to many users who may
not like games. We still specialize in gaming topics from bbs online games,
computer games, board games, card games to rpgs. It was originally formed
so gamers could use the network to play their favorite games. Now we
have over 35+ echos that are as diverse as sci-fi to book discussion echos.
For more details instead of reading a dry description why not logon to
an AdventureNet bbs and see the net in person.

 * Why is AdventureNet here?

AdventureNet was started for a few reasons. When we created it, we wanted
to serve teens, adults, and others with a quality alternative network that is
relatively cheap to pull in. Most of our high speed transfers take less than
a minute. Although we prefer it, you don't have to poll every day, we are
flexible and will allow you to poll whenever you like. We want to serve you
with the finest quality echomail and files for you and your users. We are
considerably smaller than FidoNet, and therefore do not have the overflow of
mail/files often seen in its conferences.

 * What are the rules like?

AdventureNet? Rules? You've got to be kidding me. Well, it's not like
we don't have any rules; all of the rules in our policy statement basically
stem from one basic principle - "Be nice and use common sense."
The policy's
specifics were written to outline some problems which may potentially arise
when people aren't nice and don't use common sense. We have only had to
ban one person from the network echos in the four years.

The AdventureNet Advisory Council helps to ensure the smooth running of
AdventureNet affairs. AdventureNet does not discriminate because of age,
sex, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, beliefs, taste in food,
opinion on world politics, or favorite color. We welcome anyone who is
interested in joining a fun network to try out AdventureNet.

 * What are the echos like?

We have a variety of conferences to suit most needs. If you are a user of
AdventureNet, or a node, you can request an echo if you feel it would be
active. We have echos on many subjects, A to Z. We have a talented staff
of moderators and co-moderators, and combined with the efforts of our
international echomail coordinator, keep the network running smoothly.
Even though the primary purpose of the network is gaming in general. We
offer echos for many users who may not like gaming at all. We have general
conversation echos from sci-fi to TV or books. Many topics are covered
in the diverse echomail areas. For those who DO like gaming we have active
rpgs, board games, trivia contests and even echo areas for the DESIGN of
games from computer to paper (board, rpg) games.

 * What are the file echos like?

We offer file echos for our nodes, too. We don't allow trash to be
hatched in our echos. This section is not as developed as other sections,
but we're working on it.
We have file echos for game related topics from cheats, unprotects to
hint files. We have specific gaming related files for those games that
may be covered by netwrok echo areas. For those who simply rather play
games then we have file echos for computer games from arcade oriented to
complex simulation games.

 * What are the inter-bbs leagues like?

Unlike many networks which typically only have Barren realms as their
only inter-bbs network games AdventureNet will have more. Currently in
operation are leagues for Barren Realms Elite, Falcon's Eye, Immortal
Combat, ArrowBridge, Lore and the most recent addition LordNet! We may
eventually add more like Populus, ISA and melee to name a few.
DATELINE: June 2001 We annouce a new ERA - We at AdventureNet
have dissolved BRE/FE 033 Leagues and formed together in a larger
multi-network BRE/FE game with MirageNet's game to form League 933!

 * What we're looking for

AdventureNet is looking for nodes who want to pull in high quality
echomail at a relatively cheap price. Ones who think they would like
AdventureNet to be on their BBSes or computers. We do not charge for
access to the netowrk and typically cost of a normal ISP account is
only needed (for internet transfers).

We also are looking for new zones to create all the time. We'd like to
expand AdventureNet worldwide, and we think that everyone would benefit from
this and it would strengthen relations between other nations. We are
willing to work with you to install a new zone in/on your country/continent.

Not only are we looking for the above positions, but we're looking for
NC's everywhere that would be willing to call LD to a RHub/ZHub/IHub and
distribute mail to your area. We are looking for NC's everywhere we don't
already have one.
We is also like nodes to Join in to our League 933 for Doorgames Pratical
the doors ad it is fun to do Gaming by BBS, and by be a League node is it
too makes other Sysop to see what AdventureNet is and to like be with us.

 * Why should I consider AdventureNet?

We respect each and every AdventureNet member and his/her rights. We
offer our services to all. We have a great network setup. We want all to
join and have a good time in the network that we have created. We're proud
of our network. We offer a unique and quaint atmosphere not found on any
other network.

 * Do AdventureNet (Advnet) have a good Rule for a node?

Yes AdventureNet have the Rule that new nodes know on how to configure their
Mailer to poll and connect the right way, so a node poll and connect his uplink
by Advnet Aka (Node number) and domain and not using other nets nodenumber to this.
So the Rule main thing is this and have good and nice behaviar.

 * What if I not is familar to setup a Mailer for more than one net?

If you not know hot to configure your mailer to be setup and work the right way
then there is a file all nodes should view and read on help to setup a mailer for
a network node and for multi networking, read this file there is named ftn-node.zip
and if you not sure on doing it after this file is read then ask your IC and ZC
about help on it and not do try self to do it self. You should have got ftn-node
file with this information pack.

If you like a network that is easy to deal with full of interactive
nodes you'll like this net. If your users enjoy rpgs or ANY game related
topics or just general areas of active conversations then you'll like this
network. We are very flexible to the new members and any suggestions.
