Hi, all:
I thought I'd pass along this item, in case any of the echo participants
knew John Hathaway:

Hello.
Our good friend John W. Hathaway, born in Coventry, England, January 13,
1925, has passed away at Burnaby General Hospital (near Vancouver, B.C.),
on Friday, June 6.
John's list of cycling accomplishments was too long to recount, but
suffice it to say that he cycled around the world twice (or almost, if it
hadn't been for crashes, etc.), was the first BC rider to enter Paris-
Brest-Paris, and set a Trans-Canada cycling record (1957) which endured
for 20 years. He was a life member of the Vancouver Bicycle Club, and was
also a stalwart of the Coventry Meteors and a long-time member of Cycling
B.C. and the organizations that preceded it (BABC, BCCA, etc.).
A memorial service will be held sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Stay in touch; I'll get the details later.
