DW> From what i remember, it's always been slightly dangerous to use
DW> a non approved modem on telecoms phone lines, now it's illegal
DW> under Austel, but that doesnt stop people, I know several rather
DW> prominent Sysops using non approved modems on their BBS lines..

BL> We were arguing about the specific time (1987-88?)
BL> when Telecom was challenged by importers.

Pigs arse we were, some completely senile old fart of Concord proclaimed
that modems only had to be approved when AUSTEL required that when he was
raving on about the buy back scheme on guns, proclaiming that they didnt
have a buyback scheme on modems. He is now faking away like mad on that
total fuckup and is fooling absolutely no one at all.

You are making as pathetic a spectacle of yourself
as you did with all the collossal fuckups on TVs.

BL> Until then, they claimed the right to vet all equipment
BL> connected to Telecom lines, and were using it to
BL> prevent competition. They lost the court case.

Poor senile old Bob. There were hordes of approved devices
around at that time, so that pathetic claim wont fly.

BL> If you look through an old catalogue in that era, you'll find that
BL> some phones and modems are "Telkecom Authorised" and others are not.

Some chose to flout the law. Some DO NOW TOO. Poor senile old Bob.

BL> The Communications Act had to be rewritten.

Poor senile old Bob. Gas chamber time.
