subject: Warp4/Win95 peer networking

 AL> Hello All!
AL> I'm currently setting up a simple peer network between my
 AL> machine (running OS/2 Warp 4 FP5) and my father's machine,
 AL> which uses Win95 OSR2. I'm using SMC9432TX 10/100 PCI
AL> ethernet cards, connected with a CAT5 crossover cable (no
 AL> hub).
andrew,
are you sure that your crossover cable is correct? are you sure that there is
continuity between each end of each wire? are you sure that the cards are
really good?
i've seen problems with bad cables and cards that appear to be good but they
fail some point of their testing. one of my dads boxes recently had the
transmitter in the card go out. everything else worked just couldn't get
anything off the machine... only could send stuff to it... THAT was a real
PITA until i ran the diagnostic util that came with the card...
