actually, in Dallas things temperature wise aren't that bad. the apt i live 
in has a fireplace for the winter and it's ok in the summer since it has a 
western exposure with a building directly to the west (except the view is 
horrid)...
I'm going to use the fireplace exclusively this winter to warm the place and 
see how much more I can chop off the electric bill. Currently down to $18 :-)
