On SuSE Linux 8.0, I had to symlink "libncurses.a" to
"libcurses.a" in 
/usr/lib/, this allowed me to compile TimEd and a few other programs that 
would not compile cleanly, tho this does not solve all problems with other 
source packages which have "other" problems.
