Paul, at 12:03 on Jan 27 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley... BG> Dunno if you read the USR_MODEMS echo, but I know you read AUST_MODEMS, and BG> nobody else has EVER reported similar problems with the Courier. PE> I've heard it all before, with the Spirit. Everyone was saying PE> how great it was, then I went and bought one, and then started PE> telling everyone why it was a heap of shit. But Paul, the Spirit had several specifically documented deficiencies, some of which I've even experienced myself. I really wish I was in a position to come and check your entire system and its setup. BG> Maybe Paul's place is jinxed... PE> I've seen you going head-first into my telephone line and PE> now even supernatural beings in my house. Funny you never PE> mentioned these possibilities when I had a Spirit, which PE> was having FAR more success than this modem. Unless the particular Courier you're using has some obscure fault, I still don't believe that your current problems are modem-related. I've had more exposure to Couriers than 90% of people in Australia, and I've NEVER had occasion to blame the modem for anything such as you describe. PE> In fact, the success of the Spirit is enough to prove that PE> the Courier has a fixable deficiency. Nope, I refuse to believe that the Couriers are basically flawed. My own experiences with USRs suggests quite the opposite. Have you checked your serial I/O card yet? Or your serial cable? I also have to ask the question: why hasn't Dave Drummond experienced any of the problems about which you're complaining? Think about it.
