BG> You may well laugh, but just last night, Lyn and I sat well away from the

BG> suburb for the better part of 2 hours, firing a heavy calibre rifle from a
BG> moving car. I don't know if he was actually firing into people's houses
BG> (as some bastard did a few months ago in the next street), but we weren'y
BG> taking any chances. BTW, at no time in those 2 hours did we hear a police
BG> siren. :(
PE> And did you call the police?
BG> No, but only because I felt sure that heaps of other people would have.
BG> Turns out that there were NO reports at Logan Central Police HQ at all.
BG> I'd explain all about apathy, but I couldn't be bothered.
Not much point doing sad faces at the police then, is there? One
thing I have found about Australia, is that everyone is convinced
that someone else far more intelligent, important, or mature, is
taking care of all the things that require intelligence, importance,
or maturity.
The classic example is that all my life my dad has used the phrase
"well there's far smarter people than you or I who are working on
that". One day I said to him "how do you know they're smarter than
me?". He was pretty tongue-tied at that. And since then, I've
ignored the comment, but always been on the lookout for this really
smart guy, should I ever meet him. Whilst waiting for this
opportunity to arise, I discovered on the way another fact. All these
adults who seemed really mature and sophisticated when you were a kid,
are actually no better than the kids themselves!
Take for example these echos, and all the "arse-wind-blowing"
name-calling etc etc. Admittedly it's probably not a good idea
to be using myself as an example though. BFN. Paul.
