>>> Frank Masingill on Reflections on modernity
FM> Maybe. Maybe not. The future is still not ours to predict.
FM> That's left to the psychics and prophets. We make our myths, just as
FM> the ancients did, based on what they understood that they knew and
FM> didn't know and a sensitivity for the difference.
The ancient myths have allegorical meanings that are important to understand.
Consider Joseph Campbell's work on mythology. It doesn't take any psychic
nor any prophet to see that the world is headed for trouble. It's just a
matter of when and how bad. We have set into motion events that will
continue to get worse for some time.
