-> Of course, firing conditions like you describe will probably not lead
-> to creosote buildup anyway. ;-)
Now THERE's a thought! Not hardly! AAMOF, I never HEARD of
chimmny fires until I journied up north. In the South, woodstoves are
run "Balls to the wall" to TRY to keep ice from forming on the
waterbucket on the kitchen cabinet!
-> I'm often asked "How long with that barrel stove last?"; the answer
-> seems to be indefinitely
My buddie's oil fired barrel stove has burnt out. (You remember when we
built it?) It's either feast or famine with that particular stove.
It's either red hot with TOO much fire, or sitting there with kindling
ashes in it with rain pouring down the chimmny. His dad's stove, well
cared for as you say, is still going strong. The fuel seems to have an
effect too. The old man burns post oak and Mesquite in his which
produces a long slow fire even burning with full draft. Something to
consider!
