Yeah, I'm a bit new to git as well. I'm currently using TortoiseGit. I am a
bit more experienced with TortoiseSvn, so that seemed like a good way to
move on. ;)

I also tested TortoiseBzr and TortoiseHg, but they wouldn't install
correctly out of the box. I had to get al kinds of extra python libraries,
before I could get them to work, so I gave up on them. Installing
TortoiseGit was just a few clicks...

But for getting the branches out of Git, I think it's just a matter of
using the switch option from the right click menu. ;)
