Hi Gerald,

(Sunday April 12 1998 10:45) Gerald Miller to Ted Menks about: Question #1!

GM>>> Another one of those "NOT carved in stone" statements... ;^)
TM>> I could also *try* to lie to you, if you'd prefer it... ;-)
GM> "All affirmations are true in some sense, false in some sense and
GM> meaningless in some sense. True and false in some sense, true and
GM> meaningless in some sense and true and meaningless in some sense. AND
GM> true and false and meaningless in some sense. Does that make sense?" --
GM> Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson.

:)

GM>>> I shudder to think there may be another Gerald Miller lurking in
 GM>>> that echo.
TM>> How gastly! Wash your mouth! ;-)))
GM> Barkeep, bring me a Chivas Regal...

Ordinary vinegar will do! ;-)

GM> Yes, I do the same thing(s) with that program too, but that example may be
GM> the exception to the "Rulez"...

Any program might be an exception in some way... How do we find out if we don't
try? :)

TM>> I think it's still worth a try, if you need the space. At first,
TM>> 4Dos was still ok, mind you, but some of its functions started
TM>> behaving strangely... Sudden lockups, shell-outs from other programs
 TM>> failed, etc....
GM> If you want to dance with the devil, you dance to his tune...

Yup... But one can always decide not to dance, after the tryouts ;-)

GM> Very strange -- don't trust disk-compressors, but will use
GM> file-compressors. I've got a really good deal on a bridge I want to sell
 GM> to you...

Hey, if a disk-compressor fucks up, EVERYTHING is lost... That's by far too big
a gamble for me...

GM>>> (except it works great on my RAM disk)
TM>> Is that a possibility? Heavy!!!!
GM> I'm able to do so with Stacker. I'm not sure if you can do it with the
GM> MickeySoft products (don't trust them after the courts proved they ripped
 GM> off Stac Electronics),

I don't trust them, period! ;-)

GM> I've never tried them. I have found that the Stacked RAM drive does
GM> have some limitations, but I only use the RAM disk for operating file
GM> archiving programs and virus scanning of archived files, so if I
GM> loose it or QEMM forces a boot, then, I haven't lost much.

Good enough!

 GM> ! Origin: 4DOS for one and 4DOS for all! (1:153/715.6)

I suddenly realize that there's nothing about 4Dos in this thread anymore...
Shall we end it, or move it to netmail? It shouldn't be here anynore ;-)

Random greetings,
  Ted Menks Fido : 2:2449/236.51 / 2:284/412.51

... If at first you don't succeed, have somebody else do it for you!
