| subject: | A NEW STRATEGY FOR VISUALAGE AND VI |
JDG> I spoke with a IBM'er about Visual Age C++. He told JDG> me that the Windows version JDG> will have more features than the OS/2 version. Ok, JDG> but when can I see a new OS/2 version? He guessed it JDG> would take 6 months! I've heard the same...it is not because it will take them that long to put the features in (they are already there), it is because that is when the next version is scheduled to be released (and they don't want to release a minor version in the meantime). I'm not saying I like/agree with this policy, but I am not flustered -- I know the way IBM works. The new version will have a lot more in it than the recently released Windows version (and then those users will probably have to wait 6 months to be caught up --- unless IBM gets smart and starts shipping the compiler as a multiplatform product, like Watcom does). --- Maximus/2 3.00* Origin: Sol 3 * Toronto * V.32 * (905)858-8488 (1:259/414) SEEN-BY: 50/99 78/0 270/101 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 934 955 SEEN-BY: 712/407 515 517 628 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 259/414 400 99 250/99 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 809 934 |
