Yeah the Packard Bell is like that and the blasted leads are like
steel unable to sever with single edge razor blade despite
 sawing away at it.
No small set of diagonal cutters here.
You ought to know you've got to get three levels deep in
tech support to get a knowlegable tech support person.
My experience with Verizon tech support is when they changed
modem protocols, like 12 useless calls before I specified
"senior tech" who promptly advised me to add
commas in the dialer to delay negotiation until
certain new 56k tones had passed.
Instead of manually putting the modem delay in each time
I edited isp.sr putting it in there.

Good, what did it turn out to be?
The battery holder was pretty easy in the H.P. and as
I've long fingers I managed to get by the cards, cables and drive
to get to the motherboard mounted battery holder.
Otherwise I'd had have to disassembled the other side
panel from the case as one needs to do to access
the memory moduals.
