one really important thing to note is that unless the above address has been
explicitly assigned to her machine, there will likely be a conflict or
problem somewhere...
what i do is to use the 192.168.0.* range of addresses for my internal TCP/IP
network. there is also 10.0.3.* (may have the .0 and .3 backwards) and i'm
thinking there is another range.
the thing about these ranges is that they _cannot_ travel thru the routeing
equipment used on the internet. it's a math thing AFAIR. the point is that
those addresses are reserved for internal network use and then you set up
some kind of gateway or firewall for those machines to use to get out to the
net.
if your 172.16 address above is part of the 3rd range i'm thinking of, please
ignore this message and pass the salt ;-)
