Likely so, but I was curious to see what would happen if you disabled
retrains at your end.  Does the call continue at 14k4, or does the Courier
drop DTR?

It's a few SDLs back, but there were some problems with trigger-happy
retrains, as far as I can recall.  I would hope that's been fixed by now.

I mean the lines between PM and PE.  Given my own long-term results, and
bearing in mind that everywhere else I call is at 28800 straight up, I
suspect that there could be a line problem at PE's end.

Dunno if you read the USR_MODEMS echo, but I know you read AUST_MODEMS, and
nobody else has EVER reported similar problems with the Courier.
