-> Not having a lot of luck here. Apparently, the 4X4 of that era had 6
-> hole 15
-> inch. Seems people that have them aren't prone to part with them. I t
-> the 6 hole for cars ended in early fifties or even earlier. Weren't t
-> inch way back then too?
The change from six hole to five was made in '49. I believe they went
from 16" to 15" at the same time. Don't believe a car rim would work.
It's odd that you can't find the 15" rim. My '57 was 2WD and had 15".
I'd think there'd be a ton of those around. My curiousity is piqued.
I'll drop by my local junkyard and check the Hollander (interchange)
manual. Also see what's on some of the trucks in there. Not sure
when they went to the 5-hole on the trucks, probably 70's?
-> > tires came from and they were definitely 8.20x15... Yes, it was
->
-> That would be good. Should be an abundance of tires available in
-> similar size today.
->

->
-> That's been suggested by junk yard dealers I've talked to. Have
-> found only one
-> at a tire shop here so far. I'd like to buy in pairs though.
How about the hot-rod parts suppliers like Summit? I know they have
those. Didn't that whole NAFTA thing kill the import duty? Hmmm.
-> I'm also in bad need of front fenders too. Locally I've been quoted
-> $160 Cdn for the kind (metal) that come in two halves. I've never
-> seen these or done much body work. Not sure how they go on or what's
-> involved here. I restored this truck in '80 but I simply welded in
-> patches. I don't want to go this route again. Fiberglass types are
-> real pricey and I have no knowledge of suitability or anyone that
-> has experience with these.
-> I called a place in California and they quoted $90 for what sounded
-> like the same thing. However shipping and exchange duties etc to
-> Canada will bring the cost to about the same.
I have a '47 Chevy 2-ton I'm working on. There are suppliers who
specialize in the trucks, and they go up to the 70's. There are a
touch pricey though. I know of no sources around me.
