JW> the Washington Redskins ... are finally going to change their
JW> offensive names.
ML> the level of obnoxiousness is fairly mild.
Not if you're a Native American or Canadian First Nations person.
Trust me on that one.
ML> Ma Maison [and] Chez Henri
There seems to be one each of these in every major city! The Chez
Henri, later Cafe Henri Burger in Gatineau, Quebec was most amazing.
I had a blowout meal there once with my then girlfriend to celebrate
her college graduation. It centred around a Chateaubriand a la
bouquetiere and was absolutely amazing in both presentation and
taste.
ML> Lilli ... she's been growing hot peppers, which bear nicely, but
ML> the fruit get brown discoloration (fungus?) and wither before
ML> they ripen ... because of what I figure is overwatering.
We had a record number of rainy days in July and that happened to
our peppers too. The upside of too much rain is no forest fires and
clean fresh air, no smoke.
ML> the leaves are flourishing, and pepper leaves taste pretty good
ML> too.
Same here.
ML> Kale slaw is not unheard of but is unlikely to appear on my
ML> plate. Julienned and frizzled in oil with a little garlic, I'll
ML> choke the stuff down.
It's also good in potato or pasta soups with lots of sausage.
JW> Roslind bought a bag of chia seeds for her smoothies but
JW> decided she doesn't like them so I am now researching what to
JW> do with them
ML> I cannot help you on chia nor am inclined to research
ML> the subject. To me these are uninteresting
Doing something tasty and useful with them may well be a lost cause.
JW> Calgary is in the #4 spot, up from nowhere.
ML> Calgary? Did Pierre LePage move there or something?
He's move to Quebec City. Calgary is all about money which it was
awash in until oil prices broke in 2014. And then after that a lot
of head offices moved from Toronto to Calgary as both office rents
and the price of executive homes plummeted.
JW> Gnocchi Allo Safferano
ML> That's zafferano to you, bub
Google's Translate function confirms that, not that I doubted you.
My own knowledge of Italian is very scanty.
JW> Western Canada is too far from anywhere to be relevant.
ML> It may have been true also at one time, but I refer you to Asia
ML> for a contrary opinion.
That started of as a Midwest America joke but I didn't want to seem
to be picking on your country too much.
ML> she was gorgeous - a decade ago ... I hope she continues to use
ML> that intelligence and insight that she showed back as a kid and
ML> never learn to suppress it.
She did some modelling for a while but got out after a few months.
Too many creeps. She plans to return to school but is currently
unsure of what to pursue.
ML> She'll no doubt cut her swath through the world of men sowing
ML> joy and exasperation.
She's been doing that for years, more or less unintentionally
usually. She seems to have settled down now with one guy. They
bought a house together recently.
ML> Jerry ... had a huge fever ... peritoneal infection [or] a
ML> tumor.
Very serious either way on top of his other woes.
ML> my eye doc's office screwed up again and failed to make a
ML> replacement appointment for me
That sucks rocks.
ML> Cupit Yurartet performing Cup'ik Eskimo dance [and]
ML> Lepquinm Gumilgit Gagoadim Dancers
Drum dancing can be mesmerizing. Lexi has a ancient drum given to her
by her Aklavik relatives which she cherishes.
ML> I don't see hot chiles in German cooking.
They are certainly more inclined to rely on mustard and to some
degree horseradish and black pepper for "zip".
Cheers
Jim
... I'd like to devote this thread to the issue of pinata safety.
