I'd heard stories about how in some cases the price of refills for inkjet
printers was more than the original cost of the printer. Now I've finally
encountered such a situation...

From the ads in Sunday's paper, I see that Target is now selling a Lexmark
printer for the astounding sum of $24. A black ink refill is around $30,
and a color one around $35.

Unfortunately, this thing also needs a USB interface, which is going to
add somewhat to the cost for me. Still probably beats me spending much
effort to get that ailing laster printer fixed, though...

I remember reading about one mfr that put a chip in their cartridges, and
then filed for copyright infringement when some aftermarket supplier tried
to give equivalent functionality. I'm thinking this was Lexmark, but am
not sure. Anybody know?
