PE> Rod Speed's Supra - 50% of calls fail with retrain problems, PE> despite the fact that the connection is only at V32bis. BG> Ask Rod to disable retrains at his end, not yours. Its not MY modem asking for a retrain within a second of the initial connect on every single call. Thats never seen with anything except a USR, so its got to be the USR doing that. And that behaviour is completely silly, particularly on a V32bis call. The main question mark at the moment is whether that was just a wart in earlier USR flashrom code. PE> 5. Paul Markham's Netcomm - connections at 26400, 24000, 2400!, 14400. BG> Lines again? Dunno, it's extremely unusual to say the least. Cant be lines if Paul Markham doesnt get that sort of behaviour calling other systems. PE> 6. Frank Malcolm's Spirit Thunder - connections at 2400! Ditto. PE> In short, as a BBS operator I want a modem that can connect PE> to a wide variety of common modems, including all of the PE> above. The USR Courier is falling way short of that. BG> Shouldn't be, But clear is. And you shouldnt get such gross problems, particularly the 2400 connects, with a very basic modem config from factory. --- PQWK202* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 |
