I was moderately serious: the libraries sounded extremely useful,
and I was considering ordering it for them alone.

Actually, I did do some Pascal around 1979/80 - I worked on the
checkweighing system at Mars (as in Mars Bars) and a couple of
other thingies as well.

I remain convinced that Algol68 IS the answer for anything other than
interrupt handlers, and its possibly the answer for them too if you
have a decent compiler.

After 10 years of C++ I still feel unable to say I am good at it -
I feel much more at home with old-fashioned 'ornery' C, and AFAICT
C++ is just too complex for most programmers to learn, and lets face it,
programmers are fairly used to complexity and long learning curves.
