PC>pmtermsr.lzh, by Peter Fitzsimmons. Its a good
PC>example of accessing the
>com port.
MS> Know of any FTP sites that have this file? I have seen reference to it
MS> many times, but have never found it on a BBS or any FTP sites.
It's here.
Each time I see someone reference it, an alarm goes off in my head:
"I've _really_ got to go and fix up that code before it spreads any
farther" -- but I'm always too busy it seems.
The main purpose of pmtermsr.lzh was to:
- Compliment my ColoradOS/2 presentation (ie: there are no docs
and few comments with the code)
- Show how to set the baud rate, etc, using ioctls.
- Show that a real PM program can be fast at scrolling (this, in
fact, has the most lines of code -- and it has nothing directly
to do with the serial port).
What the sample does not do;
- Demonstrate multithreaded serial i/o very well. It will receive
bytes well, but it doesn't transmit them well (The program only
sends characters from one source: the keyboard -- so I didn't
bother writing fast output code).
- provide a generic serial i/o level suitable for file transfers
(the sample, after all, is just a dumb/glass TTY eumulator).
