Replying to a message of Bob Klahn to Bob Ackley: BK> We didn't have "arcane" rules all that much, mostly in SAC we BK> had rules about how you enter and leave the flight line, and if BK> you forgot them you got to talk to the sky-cops. At NKP the entrances to the flight line didn't even have gates on them. While I was there somebody decided that they had to post guards at the flightline entrances. One night I was riding my bike in to work and noted that the guard at the flight line entrance I used was sound asleep. BA>> Sandys (A1Es) and Stingers (AC119s) (and, briefly, BA>> Gunfighters (F4Cs) and Spectres (AC130s)) there (Nakhon BA>> Phanom RTAFB) but they weren't in our area of the line. I BK> Never worked on a fighter. Did work on cargo and bombers, and BK> the occassional helicopter. Oh, and FAC spotter planes. The O1A BK> and O2A and U10. We also had OV10s at NKP. Neat little airplane, twin engine turboprop looks something like a P38. One of them took a hit from a 57mm AA gun and lost most of the right wing outboard of the nacelle - and managed to RTB and land successfully. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 120/228 123/500 140/1 226/0 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 SEEN-BY: 261/100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 SEEN-BY: 633/267 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
