-> sheetmetal on 1" standoffs with clearance at the floor and ceiling so
-> air can circulate
Jim, when I was a kid living out in the boonies, (Half a century ago)
they sold "Stove Shields" at the hardware store and advertized them in
the catalogues of the day. They were an asbestos-like (if NOT asbestos)
sheet covered with thin sheets of embossed metal. (Decorative I
supposed at the time.) Kept the red hot little tin stoves of the day
from roasting the wallpaper.
People burned "Pine knots" in those little thin stoves, and I've seen
'em red hot for two or three foot up the exposed "Stovepipe". The wind
blew through those little single wall houses something fierce! I've
seen the linoleum on the floor raising up two or three inches from the
wind coming up betweeen the floorboards. "Circulation" was not a
problem in those houses. Staying warm was a TRIP!
