Right, well this time it seems to have worked, after I removed those two
2-second delays. Can you tell from your end why that should have that
effect? I'm totally mystified, surely the modems have already agreed on
a speed by then. Do you think it's your end or mine deciding to work
at 1200 or 2400?

OTOH maybe it's another 1-off, and I'll be back to 2400 when I send this
packet. :-(
