-> I know of no college friend who murdered his/her mother, father, or
-> family pet. There are always far-out examples one can provide (such
-> as you have above) but they have no significant connection to the
-> real world. The very idea of expecting this girl to put on her
-> application "Oh yeah, I killed my mom when I was 16." is so
-> laughable. Honestly Matt, where do you come up with this stuff?
Not to defend Matt, or anything, but this was a highly publicized case
in the newspapers about 9-12 months ago. The university seriously DID
rescind her acceptance for her failure to disclose the fact that she had
murdered her mother.
I agree, that it sounds kind of odd to expect a student to willingly
disclose such a thing on their application, but either that's what the
university expected, or else they simply have a policy against accepting
any applicants who are also murderers.
There was some kind of brouhaha about whether the girl should be given a
second chance (it was a prestigious university...I don't recall now and
she was an excellent student). I mean, so you murder your mom. Everyone
makes a mistake or two in their life. Right?
