I don't think the argument you are trying to pursue here has much merit.  
I seriously doubt that a significant number of college students fall in 
this category anyway.  If they do, so what.  Generally speaking, this is 
not a typical problem.

I know of no college friend who murdered his/her mother, father, or 
family pet.  There are always far-out examples one can provide (such as 
you have above) but they have no significant connection to the real 
world.  The very idea of expecting this girl to put on her application 
"Oh yeah, I killed my mom when I was 16." is so laughable.  Honestly
