First of all I thank you for replying to my mesage, I thought that it
would go unanswered. Before I talk about my "popcorn poper" I'd like to
compliment you on taking care of your bug and making such gook preformance
decisions.
Ok, I have a 63 semi baja sedan. By this I mean that the rear fenders
were fiberglass, the rear clip was removed and it had larger cheve wheeles in
the rear. It is my first VW(infact my first car). I bought it for $200 from a
frind. I didn't even know haw to change the oil when I got started. Well I
had to rebuld the 40hp engine because the guy before me had a stinger without
a flap, N-E-Way I basicly had barnicals growing in #3 cylinder. So to make a
very long story short I learned my way around the thing and rebuld the motor.
What I actualy did was install rebult heads, big bore PC, a webber 30mm carb
and a quiet pack exhaust. You can emagin my joy when I fianaly got it
started. It has been quite a pain to tune. This is mainly because the intake
manafold is freezing up bigtime. The reason for that is that the preheater
tubes cannot be conected to the header, they don't line up. So what I'm
thinking of doing is add an external oil cooler and route the lines around
the intake manafold to produce enough heat to, well do it's thing. So that is
basicly where I am right naw with my car. Also I'm helping my frind with his
cal bug. It started as a '68 but the 1641 would not pass smog so we recently
put the body on a '65 pan, that was interesting. But whole we had the body
off we put the 1835 out of his baja on the pan because if we are having a
socalled '65 we can put any engine we want. Well right now he has to get a
wireing harnace, but otherwise it is together.
By the way my bug still has the vacume distributer and the whole
electral system is still 6v. This still dosent keep me from squealing the
tires once in a while, something my frinds 1600 2brl weberstreet bug can not
do!
By the way I'm 16 and I guess I have lots of time to tinker with my
bucket and drop in a 1776 someday. Please write back if posable, Thanks
