 Dunno, Avast was recently caught distributing malware (the
CCleaner backdoor has disappeared from the "news", I wonder why), and
the US Government recommends it.
 They've never found malware in Kaspersky although it's audited
daily. If they had we would have all the juicy detailed in every IT
blog.
 So ... #FAKENEWS.
 If you actually believe the article source, install whatever
backdoor your government recommends.
