subject: AMI Bios Reset Question

-> AMI BIOS about February of 1996/98 or so...

-> It's on an older M519 AMD 586 Mobo and hangs in the "Read the
tea leaves"
-> section just after you punch the key to go reset
something. Not all the
-> times - just sometimes.

-> I can go in and yank the J6 battery backup put the jumper over the hardware
-> reset pins and start all over. It will always come up that way. You can do
-> the setup work and it saves and runs just fine. But ... every now and then
-> when you want to check something of test this or that .. JAMMED!

-> Is there a separate keystroke command other than the conventional
 key
-> like or or something, that will cold
turkey John Henry and
-> his 16 pound hammer force a complete reset like the pin short deal maybe?

I highly doubt it. But I did run across one machine with a Key stroke
listed along with "Hit DEl " to go into CMOS. And it was to "Restore
Default settings".
My laptop is acting the same way. Have you changed the MB battery?? If
it is going bad it will cause the CMOS to do funny things.
