        I once, about 4 years ago, repaired an HP printer that had the
   same pathology. I used a small piece of emery paper, # 600, and buffed
   up the rubber wheels that entrain the paper. With age, they get hard
   and "glazed" by use. The sand paper will rejuvenate them somehow, give
   them traction to move the paper.
