Maybe. One day. Maybe one day soon. I've got other priorities to worry
about at present. (Look how long it took for me to finally get into the
swing of things with Msgedsq 3.x.)

Yeah, but in Msgedsq's case the previous authors had recognised the fact
and let the product go for someone else to pick up the ball - this allowed
that someone else's work to easily become "legit" rather than a
temporary hack.

Vince won't let go. :-(

PE> So why hang around dreaming?

Not dreaming - just wishing that Vince would release the 2.59 source code
(which has a lot rolled into it from EE, apparently) so that I can make my
own mods to "the latest release", not hack around with an older
version.

If I6 is supposed to be reporting disconnection stats, then what's the
point in sticking it in the init string? I do a lot more with my modem
than just run Bink, remember.

Oh, BTW - I just learnt that the NetComm SmartModem M34F (all Series 5
NetComms, actually) support upgradable Flash ROMs! Amazing what you learn
when you turn a box upside down and read the flashy sales crap. :-)

I've just upgraded the ROM in my M34F from:

    Series 5 V.34 28800 Modem DFS256K(K) V2.61C1 NetComm Ltd. (C) 1995

to:

    Series 5 V.34 28800 Modem DFS256K(K)-Z7 V2.61L NetComm Ltd. (C) 1995

The manufacturing version/date in the ROM is:

    V2.61L Fri Jul 28 11:51:10 1995

This was downloaded from NetComm's FTP site (ftp.netcomm.com.au) - no idea
if anything newer is on their bboard. Shame I still only connected to you
at 26,400bps (serial port is now 57,600bps). I checked by calling an ISP
(Access One, run by Labtam) - they use AscendMAX boxes with V.34 chips
acting as modems, and I got a 28,800bps (w/V.42bis, LAP-M, V.34) connect
first go.

NetComm's FTP site also has an OS/2 directory with dedicated NetComm
settings for Warp's IAK. About time NetComm recognised that OS/2 exists!
:-)

I wonder if I can get the source to that DOS EEPROM programmer utility...

Oh Bill, I checked - sorry I was wrong; the M34F does Class 1 and Class 2
fax, no mention of "Class 2.0".

Cheers..
