Hello Donald.

27 Dec 04 22:36, you wrote to me:

DT> Some important questions that I forgot to write in the previous

change-able.
DT> You might also try using Lord/Linux beta which you can get from
DT> Michael directly via email request I think. However, it does not work
 DT> with IGMs.

Currently only Marty's Mecantile and Barak's House, work from the BBS via
telnet.

So I am playing The PawnShop and Gemtrader in local mode, I seem to have
problems with LORD, as a second install, ver 4.06, in another directory, does
not want to run properley.

DT> If you are playing the IGM in local mode, then you can protect
DT> yourself from losing characters fairly easily. Copy player.dat to a
DT> player.bkp file before you run Lord. If something happens to a
DT> character after using an igm, such as Pawn Shop, just exit LORD. Then
DT> replace player.dat which is now corrupted with the player.bkp file.
DT> But if you are using Lord on a bbs, the only fix for a lost character
DT> is to get the sysop to rebuild your character. And to get it as close
DT> as possible to what you had before you lost the character, he/she
DT> would need a copy of the Stats Lord screen. Which probably would be
DT> in the capture log of your comm program or telnet browser, if you use
 DT> capture logs.

Thanks for this tip ...

DT> Some IGMs like Pawn Shop will let you play a long time. And others
DT> don't let you stay around a long time. You can get into and out of an
DT> igm such as my Violet's Cottage ii program in just a few minutes.
DT> Lord is very "fussy" about dumping you if you spend more

That could be a problem ..., and aggravating, yes ...

DT> That is a good idea. Let me know if you try it, as to what the
 DT> results are.

Will do ...

New player crashed and burned after trying the gemtrader again ... , but I am
not happy with the way LORD itself is running at present, especially after,
trying another copy in a new directory ...

DT> Thank you for the compliments. And I hope you don't have more
DT> problems while using Pawn Shop (or Gem Trader). There will be new
DT> betas of both available sometime after New year's Day, that you can
DT> download from my web-site, using
 DT> http://www.fidotel.com/public/camelot/igm-beta.htm web-page.

Will do thank you ...

DT> Let me know if you need any more assistance. DOnald.

Thanks, will do.

Russell
