Replying to a message of Earl Croasmun to Bob Ackley: EC> ~> TR> Why would Sauer's discharge be issued at Lackland Air Force EC> Base if he ~> TR> was at Lowry in Colorado? EC> ~> Because the parent unit with the personnel/command function was at EC> Lackland ~> rather than Lowry. EC> Funny, though, that that was not HIS explanation. He said his basic EC> was at Lackland, that he was then sent to Lowry, that he hurt his EC> ankle at Lowry, and that they SENT HIM BACK TO BASIC because the EC> medical facilities in Colorado couldn't handle his bad ankle! 'They' didn't 'send him back to basic,' they sent him to Wilford Hall AF Hospital at Lackland AFB. While *all* AF basic military training was and presumably still is at Lackland, there are things at Lackland other than basic training. Wilford Hall was and presumably still is one of the best hospitals in the AF. EC> And while he was healing and then working out the discharge EC> arrangements he had lots of time to play cribbage with a general. I find that a stretch, but it's possible - however unlikely. Patients generally aren't segregated by rank. FWIW, nearly thirty years ago I played volleyball on the Offutt AFB varsity team. We had two bird colonels and a two-striper on the team. On the intramural level the team I played on had a bird colonel on it and was generally mixed officer/enlisted. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 120/228 123/500 140/1 226/0 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 SEEN-BY: 261/100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 SEEN-BY: 633/267 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
