Subject: tamron, initial results
Ay> hi,
Ay> this is the lens i have recently got to try and compared it to
Ay> vivitar 28-105, 1/3.5-4.5 mounting on my nikon fg-20:
Ay> "TAMRON SP 28-80MM 1;3.5-4.2 CF MACRO LENSE"
Ay> to make it equal and easier, i preferred automatic timing and f/8 and
Ay> iso of 100. (tried 200 also but was confused so used 100 then.)
Ay> i shot macro objects in front of both dark and white backplans, leafs
Ay> and flowers at different positions with respect to the sun light, and
Ay> both with 28 and 80, at home with room enlightment, streets,
Ay> reflections, places with shady and sunny parts...
Ay> if the sun is not generous, tamron showed much lesser timing than
Ay> vivitar and finished shooting much more earlier. (good! as i generally
Ay> shake the vivitar while waiting...)
Ay> however, the results were astonishing. generally, while those of
Ay> vivitar were as shiny as a sea shore tamron's were much more close to
Ay> the real lightening, and darker and more contrast and... significantly
Ay> grainy at shades or dark objects. :((
Ay> other than this, it seems to reflect lesser light (from the windows
Ay> etc) and have less artifact due to this. i guess this is, in deed,
Ay> parallel to its timing values.
Ay> tamron also seems to have little lesser distortion particularly at
Ay> horizontal axis. at the vertical axis, tamron seems to pull as ")("
Ay> while vivitar prefers to push as "()".
Ay> today i started shooting some pairs (as i wrote above) with tamron
Ay> only. first with automatic timing, then timing to the values it needs.
Ay> i hope to finish it tomorrow and see the last results.
Ay> waiting for your comments and suggestions while eating my nails. 8L
Paintshop Pro has great correction routines to handle the ")(" and the
"()" problem in a few clicks.
... Condoms should be used on every conceivable occasion.
