Mo> Hello Jacky! Glad your here! I can take all the advice you can
Mo> offer. I have a 10yo daughter who is ADD/ADHD and I can't get her
Mo> teachers to help her at all. In fact they tell her to lay her head on
Mo> the desk and just rest, they don't care if she does anything. They
Mo> have already told her she has flunked fourth grade. What kind of
Mo> advice can you give me and what kind of words of encouragement can I
Mo> give her? Thanks for your time! :)

I see alot of people are having trouble again. I am going to post an
educational fact from C.H.A.D.D. It may give you something to stand on.
I hope it helps. Please note this is for the U.S and if any of you live
in Canada I believe they have a chapter their also. The message is from
me and the subject is Educational Laws. As the law states Discriminatory
actions because of a child's disability (ADD/ADHD being one of them) is
AGAINST THE LAW. And it is up to the school to find out why she is flunking
and to try to correct it if it is caused by the child's disability.
Remarks such as the one the Teacher made can harm a childs motivation to
try at all. I would bring this up to the principal and if that does not
work bring it up to the Superintendent of the school district. Try to do
it in writing, receipt requested. If all else fails find a parent advocate
or take the child to a Psychrist and show the school what harm this teacher
is doing. This could give you a better leg to stand on (legally of course).
A child not doing their homework or having a lack of motivation is not
lways
the child's fault. It could also be due to the schools attitude toward the
child. A teacher once said this to my child and in my case it really didn't
matter because I had already decided to homeschool. My child just laughed
to himself. If this were not the case my child would have been devastated
as he had emotional problems caused from the school enviornment.

Please note the above tagline. The squeeky wheel gets the grease. Open
our
mouth and use any and all resources to get your child what is righfully
theirs............An education.
