Hey CHARLES! Jul 24 23:17 05, CHARLES ANGELICH wrote to MAURICE KINAL: CA> That was easier to agree with prior to all the bloat. What bloat? My initrd's are still under 8M. The development partition - even with X libs ready, willling and able - is less then 300M and that includes C and C++ with extra math libs for all sorts of processing, even parallel. I see no unneeded bloat. CA> Some of the 'idiotic' Windows software was created/marketed by CA> third party software companies. Microsoft was just their target CA> OS. They can keep it. Mostly he distributes source so you can build your own, along with his configs and build script(s) but his compile is there for download. Add a kernel and voila! Ready for booting and only requires 4M. However I like building my own and add a few things that I use which is why my initrd's require 8M. I still have some elbow room though. --- Msged/LNX 6.1.2* Origin: Coffin Point - Ladysmith, BC Canada (1:340/401.1) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 340/401 153/7715 140/1 106/2000 633/267 |
