I've just been reading a book called THE SEAT OF THE SOUL, by
Gary Zukav. The blurb on the back cover says he's a graduate of Harvard
University
... which presumably means he's fairly intelligent. Apart from that,
however, there's nothing to convince me I should pay more attention to him
than to Jane Bloggs from Hicksville. And he writes in the annoying (to me,
at least) style of one who makes no distinction between fact & opinion,
belief, or conjecture. He asserts that angels have will, for example, where
other folks state just as emphatically that they don't. If Gabriel comes
in person to deliver a message to me, I'll ask him. Meanwhile I'd prefer
not to draw any firm conclusions on the subject. That's because I'm not a
"J" person while Gary Zukav is... IMHO! Nevertheless, he has some
ideas which I found interesting & I was able to make some allowances
for the differences in our preferred reasoning styles.... :-)
One of the things which I do like about this author is his
ability to synthesize... to take information from various sources & to
draw parallels. Nature abhors a vacuum, for example, and evidently human
beings do too because when there's a space big enough for a wheelchair
somebody will put the world's largest wastebasket or a vending machine or a
dozen cases of adult incontinent briefs in it. That's my own perception,
of course. He draws other parallels, however, between "hard
science" and human behaviour... e.g. the idea that what the observer
sees depends on what they've been looking for. He recognizes the value of
asking oneself "How do I feel & why do I feel this way?"
Despite the reference to angels, this book is not limited to any religion.
And the author feels it's important to be consciously aware of such
matters, as I do.... :-)
