Not true! A rheumatologist CAN help unless you have unacceptable side
effects from low doses or cortisone. They inject the trigger points
directly with tiny amounts of cortisone and procaine, and the pain
relief can last up to six months. You do have to go to a rheumatologist
to get this treatment, though; internists and orthopedists generally
either don't know it exists or don't feel competent to do it.
Good luck! I have the damn disease too, on top of Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome, and it sure does suck scissors. (I'm one of the rare ones
who can't take the shots.)
