-=> While eating Chocolate, Desiree had this to say: <=-
RF> Well thats good. At least the doctor knows its not just your
RF> imagination. Which is what it feels like when you tell someone things
RF> about your kid and then they go and make you a liar and behave so
RF> well.
Yeah, like with Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles and even the clerk at the
grocery store!
RF> I always thought the states were slow at approving meds. Well maybe
RF> the research team may have a better answer for him. I'm not real
Usually it takes about 10 years worth of testing before a drug is approved
in Canada... until HIV came along... the scream was loud enough so they
were forced to listen.
RF> crazy about the prozac. It is only cause of some of the things I
RF> heard. They may not even be true, but the doctor suggested my
I heard them too... but the interesting thing that doctor said (who wrote
the book on prozac I was telling you about) is that when there is a per-
sonality change it is usually an inherent personality that was there before
the affecting ailment. There was alot more stuff, of course, but the little
I did read says there are signs beforehand if the patient *should* even be
considered for prozac or not.
RF> daughter go on it last year and she refused. She deals with herself
RF> without anything.
Well, good for her then! :)
DL> can't even try those. It seems that Ritalin is fast *not* becoming the
DL> drug of choice anymore and more and more doctors are turning to
DL> anti-depressants. The one Cory's doctor did mention was Zoloft. Gotta
RF> I new a few people who took that and said it didn't do anything for
RF> them, but they weren't taking it for ADHD they were taking it for
RF> depression.
On the ritalin Cory's "rebound" effect got worse with each day he was on
it. It tore my heart out to see him so effected and I cut him off without
calling the doctor beforehand... it was too much. And he sure the heck
didn't know what was going on.
DL> get out my handy books, reference and cross reference. Alot of it will
DL> depend what the half life is... the longer the half life (in the past)
DL> the more likely it would help for a longer period of time for Cory. We
DL> also discussed the punishment issue in regards to children with and
DL> without ADD/ADHD. It seems that I have 100% backup of his doctor in
DL> this regard for Cory (with the school).
DL> Well, gotta go. My little munchkin will be home any minute! :) :)
RF> Thats good it helps to know you have a professional on your side.
It's one battle that nobody should have to go through... bad enough fighting
everyone else in your child's life, the doctor shouldn't be one of them.
RF> And mines home and its not been a good day. Smart mouth day,
RF> noooooooo two days now. Gosh I can't keep track anymore.
Cory has been steadily deteriorating...all except for the slapping of his
sister... that hasn't increased or decreased. Which is why he was taking
the clonidine in the first place... oh, hell... my mind doesn't want to
function right now... some days this is all too much. Gotta go out this
weekend for sure!
DL> Take care,
RF> You too.
Always, I try. :)
