I'm not quite sure what this has to do with viruses, but since it's here 
anyway: try creating a minimal config.sys (mouse driver, Himem.sys and 
dos=high,umb only), and a minimal autoexec.bat. You should get a large 
amount of memory free then; see if it will run.
