The problem for me isn't how to expose a service without those ports,
that's easy, the problem is how to do a network backup without those ports.
I can't afford to put a tape drive in every machine so the question becomes
how do you backup 5 geographically separated machines per tape drive if you
don't use windows networking functions. I don't even have the option to run
a second nic on a second private network anymore because the machines are
spread out so a fire won't take them all out at once.
