Sorry, being an ex Bell Labs researcher, I have to give credit where credit is due.
While you're correct in that the version of BSD at the time was 4.1,
the official version of UNIX at the time (System III) was still controlled
by AT&T/Bell Labs.
It was soon succeeded by System V which included features from BSD.

Thank God the movie didn't make any references to Solaris -- I'm sure
the Master Control Program (Larry Ellison) would love free marketing for his product.
