Hi, David.
DB> Heroes Reborn is almost about to happen again. This time it is
DB> called EVENT HORIZON, and even though it doesn't change their
DB> histories in an alternate reality, it does reboot their titles
DB> back to #1. The Book involved are Daredevil, Punisher, Black
DB> Panther, and The Inhumans. Daredevil is the only character with
DB> an existing series, and I guess fans are not going to make much
DB> of a fuss over the other three, who currently have no title at the
DB> moment. I guess that only objective really is to generate some
DB> interest in these characters prior to giving them another go at a
DB> new series. I don't anticipate much from this gimmick, for it
DB> could of reminds me of when Ghost Rider had that "Night of the
DB> Midnight Sons" saga that launch off Morbius, Blade, and a couple
DB> other titles. Those titles just went caplute!
I think the big difference though, between "Night Of The Midnight
Sons" and "Event Horizon" is the types of titles that are being lumped
together under their respective banners. With "Midnight Sons", all
the affected books had quite a bit in common with one another. They
were all a part of the darker, super-natural underside of the Marvel
Universe. To that end, "Heroes Reborn" (all Marvel cornerstone
titles featuring big-gun characters and/or groups) had something in
common with "Midnight Sons". With "Event Horizon" though, the books
don't all fit the same description (especially "the Inhumans"). They
are a fairly diverse group of books. I don't necessarily expect "the
Black Panther", "the Inhumans" or "the Punisher" to succeed in the
long-run, but I have wanted to see another "Inhumans" series for over
a decade now (I have the entire 12-issue run of the old '70s book).
In the end, I'll probably give at least three quarters of the EH
titles a try (not being at all interested in the Punisher)... even
though I'm only really interested in one of 'em.
Talk to you later.
David
