 How do, Tom?

JB> RJT>And now, of course, we've got *electronic* presets,
 JB> RJT>usually with no back
JB> RJT>for the "memory" in there, so if you have to
JB> RJT>disconnect the battery for so
JB> RJT>reason you have to put 'em in all over again. This is progress?

JB> TW> That is somethoing that puzzles me. Seems like the presents could be
JB> TW> in NVRAM for only a modest price increase per radio.

JB>Couldn't one even delay the outage by a cap to trickle power?

TW> Actualy many years back I owned a UNIDEN Scanner Radio that did just
TW> they. They had a Capacitor whose charge would hold the Frequency
TW> Memory Ram for about 30 days without the radio being powered up.

I bought a NAD receiver second hand, because of the quirky, but amply
capable AM/FM tuner. It's a well designed unit, but if it looses AC, for
even a nano-second, 'POOF', and it's back to programing the thing. )-: I
then just tuned my favorite eclectic station, and left it there until the
power dropped again. (Give "ckua.com" a listen.) Why they had to
cut costs on such a minuscule component is beyond me.
